About CranioSomatic^SM Workshops

The professional education program offered by Hancock CranioSomatic Institute currently includes 8 workshops in CranioSomatic Therapy. The CranioSomatic Therapy workshops present new unique and synergistic approaches to identifying and treating the compensatory neuromusculoskeletal functions that are responsible for many patients’ complaints.  These workshops are presented in 3 groups: CranioSomatic Foundations, CranioStructural Integration and Facilitated Pathways Intervention.  Participants learn many cranial techniques that correct both chronic and acute disorders of structure and function. The treatment protocols are outcome-specific and holistic.  The workshops emphasize the interrelationships between cranial and somatic function and dysfunction (the CranioSomatic concepts). 

Special Features of CranioSomatic workshops

The CranioSomatic Therapy workshops presented by Hancock CranioSomatic Institute offer features not usually found in other cranial technique courses.  Some of these are:

• Cranial classes are limited to 24 or fewer participants to maximize the effectiveness of the unique training approach. 

• Complete manuals are provided, with all concepts and treatment procedures included.  This minimizes the necessity of taking notes, and helps assure accuracy in clinical use of the evaluations and techniques.

• Techniques of Applied Kinesiology - manual muscle testing, therapy localization, and challenge - are taught, and used to confirm the need for treatment and verify treatment outcomes in each session.

• Cranial models are used extensively as teaching aids in class.  A set of 5 cranial vault bones is provided for each participant, and a life-size model skull is provided for each two participants.  These realistic models facilitate understanding and the application of techniques.

The numbered workshops in each group are sequential, each one building on knowledge and skills developed in the preceding class. CranioSomatics for Experienced Practitioners can be taken in lieu of CSF - I & II by individuals already proficient in craniosacral therapy - see the workshop description.
